ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ‘ਚ ਗੈਸ ਲੀਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ 11 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ 3 ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ 10 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋਣੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੈਸ ਲੀਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 11 ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 10 ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹਨ। 11ਵੇਂ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੀ ਹੈ। ਸਥਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਪੁਲਿਸ, ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਟੀਮ ਅਤੇ NDRF ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ 2-2 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਜ਼ਖਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਲਈ ਡਾਕਟਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਅਤੇ 50,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।Eleven people, including three children, died allegedly after inhaling toxic gas in the city’s thickly-populated Giaspura area on Sunday, with authorities suspecting that dumping of some chemicals in the sewer led to the noxious emission.
Four more persons, who were taken ill, are undergoing treatment at a hospital, officials said, adding the area was sealed, the residents were evacuated and a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team was at the spot following the incident.
ਘਟਨਾ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦੀ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਲੈਕਟਰ ਸੁਰਭੀ ਮਲਿਕ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ‘ਸਵੇਰੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਬੇਹੋਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਐਨ.ਡੀ.ਆਰ.ਐਫ., ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਬੋਰਡ, ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਟੀਮ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ 2 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਗੈਸ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਲੀਕ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਲਈ ਮੈਨਹੋਲ ਤੋਂ ਸੈਂਪਲ ਲਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਨ ਗੁਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆਸਪੁਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਤੀ ਕਲੀਨਿਕ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਵੀਲਾਸ਼, ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਵਰਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਬੱਚੇ ਕਲਪਨਾ (16), ਅਭੈ (13) ਅਤੇ ਆਰੀਅਨ (10) ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਮੂਲ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਪਿਛਲੇ 30 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਦੂਜਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸੌਰਵ ਗੋਇਲ ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗੋਇਲ ਕਿਰਨਾ ਸਟੋਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। Though the source of the leakage and the type of the gas were yet to be ascertained, the officials said that they suspected that the poisonous gas was released after some chemical was disposed of in the sewerage in the area and reacted with methane.
Giaspura is a thickly populated area with a migrant population. Several industrial and residential buildings are located here. All the victims belonged to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and had been staying in Ludhiana

Four persons died on the spot while others were rushed to the hospital. Among the dead were three members of the family that owned the store and five from another.
Police said five females and six males were among the dead.
The district administration announced Rs 2 lakh compensation each for the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for those who were taken ill in the incident.
ਤੀਜਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗਿਆਸਪੁਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਰਾਟ ਕਲੋਨੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਮਸਜਿਦ ਕੋਲ ਆਰਤੀ ਸਟੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੇਖਾਕਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਗੈਸ ਲੀਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੀਤੂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਨਵਨੀਤ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਨਿਤਿਨ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵੀ ਬਿਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ 20 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਬਿਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਪਟਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ। ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ 25 ਸਾਲਾ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੀ ਹੈ। Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief at the loss of lives and said the NDRF team is engaged in relief work. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Bhagwant Mann said the incident was very painful and added that all possible help is being provided.
“It is likely that there is some gas contamination. We are collecting samples from manholes. It is quite likely that some chemical reacted with methane in manholes,” Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik told reporters.
As the smell of the gas started spreading, many people moved out of the area.
