In a case of suspected hate crime, a 29-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was shot dead outside a gurdwara in the Selma region in the US state of Alabama. The incident took place on the night of February 24 (Saturday), The Times of India reported.
ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਵਿੱਚ 29 ਸਾਲਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਾਗੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਦੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਅਲਬਾਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਲਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਤੇ ਸ਼ਨਿਚਰਵਾਰ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਗੋਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲਡੀ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਯੂਪੀ ਦੇ ਬਿਜਨੌਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਟਾਂਡਾ ਸਾਹੂਵਾਲਾ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ।
ਉਹ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਰਤਨੀ ਜਥੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ। ਗੋਲਡੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਣਪਛਾਤੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਗੋਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ,‘ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਘਟਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
